Getting Started

Connect Google Business Profile

Link your Google Business Profile to Synoveo so you can manage your listing from the console.

Connecting your Google Business Profile lets Synoveo manage your Google listing -- keeping your property details, photos, hours, and reviews accurate and optimized for search. This guide walks you through the connection process.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, make sure you have:

  • A Synoveo account (see Create Your Account)
  • A Google Business Profile for your property
  • Owner or Manager access to the Google Business Profile you want to connect

Not sure if you have a Google Business Profile? Search for your property name on Google Maps. If a listing appears with your business name and you can claim or manage it, you have a profile. If not, you can create one at business.google.com.

Why Connect Your Google Listing?

Your Google listing is how most guests discover your property. When someone searches for "hotels near me" or "bed and breakfast in [your city]," your Google listing determines whether you show up -- and how appealing your property looks.

Connecting to Synoveo lets you:

  • Keep your listing accurate -- Hours, contact details, amenities, and photos managed from one place
  • Detect unauthorized changes -- Get notified if someone else edits your listing
  • Optimize for local search -- Synoveo's profile health tools help you rank higher
  • Manage reviews -- Read and respond to Google reviews from the console
  • Publish updates -- Share news, offers, and events directly to your Google listing

Connect Your Google Account

Open the Locations Page

In your Synoveo console, navigate to Locations in the sidebar, or go directly to console.synoveo.com/dashboard/locations.

Click "Connect Google Account"

Click the Connect Google Account button. You'll be redirected to Google.

Connecting Google

Sign In and Grant Permissions

Sign in to the Google account that manages your business listing. Google will ask you to approve the following permissions:

PermissionWhat It Allows
View and manage your Google Business ProfileRead your property details and publish updates
View your basic profile infoIdentify your account in Synoveo

Click Allow to grant access.

Synoveo never sees your Google password. The connection uses Google's secure OAuth system, which gives Synoveo limited access to your business profile only.

View Your Locations

After authorizing, you'll be redirected back to Synoveo. Your Google Business Profile locations will appear in the locations list.

Each location shows:

  • Property name and address
  • Verification status -- whether Google has verified the listing
  • Connection status -- whether Synoveo is actively managing the listing

Select Your Property

Click on the location you want to manage. This assigns it to your Synoveo account and begins importing your current listing data -- your property name, description, photos, hours, and reviews.

What Gets Imported

When you first connect a location, Synoveo imports your existing Google listing data:

DataWhat's Imported
Basic infoProperty name, address, phone number, website
DescriptionYour business description
HoursRegular hours and special hours
CategoriesPrimary and additional business categories
PhotosCover photo, logo, and property photos
AmenitiesAll attributes set on your listing
ReviewsYour Google reviews and any replies

After the initial import, Synoveo becomes the source of truth for your listing. Changes you make in the console are pushed to Google. If you need to update something, always do it in Synoveo rather than directly on Google.

Managing Multiple Locations

If your Google account has access to multiple business locations:

  • All accessible locations appear in your locations list
  • You can connect and manage each one independently
  • Each location can have its own rooms, rates, and channel connections
  • Staff permissions can be set per location

Verification Status

Your Google listing needs to be verified for Synoveo to publish updates to it.

StatusWhat It Means
VerifiedSynoveo can read and update your listing
UnverifiedSynoveo can import your listing data, but cannot publish changes until verification is complete

If your listing is not verified, you'll need to complete Google's verification process. This usually involves receiving a postcard, phone call, or email from Google to confirm you own or manage the property.

Reconnecting

Google authorization tokens can expire. If your connection stops working:

  1. Go to Locations in the sidebar
  2. Look for a Reconnect button or warning on the affected location
  3. Click Reconnect and sign in to Google again
  4. Grant permissions again to restore the connection

If you change your Google account password or revoke Synoveo's access from your Google account settings, you'll need to reconnect.

Troubleshooting

"My location doesn't appear after connecting"

  • Make sure you signed in with the correct Google account -- the one that has Owner or Manager access to the listing
  • Try refreshing the locations page
  • If the location was recently created on Google, wait a few minutes and refresh

"It says my location is unverified"

  • Complete the verification process through Google Business Profile Manager
  • Synoveo can still import your data while unverified, but it won't be able to push updates until verification is complete

"Authorization expired"

  • Google tokens expire periodically for security
  • Click Reconnect on the locations page to re-authorize
  • This is normal and does not affect your data

"I want to switch to a different Google account"

  • Go to Settings in the console
  • Disconnect your current Google account
  • Connect the new Google account
  • Re-assign your locations

What Happens to Your Data

  • Your Google listing stays intact -- Synoveo never deletes data from your Google listing
  • If you disconnect -- Your Google listing continues to exist as-is. Synoveo simply stops managing it.
  • Your Synoveo data is preserved -- Room, rate, and booking data in Synoveo is independent of your Google connection
