How to verify your Google Business Profile location
Verification proves you're the legitimate owner of a business and unlocks all GBP features.
Why Verification Matters
Unverified profiles:
- May not appear in search
- Cannot respond to reviews
- Cannot post updates
- Cannot edit certain fields
- Cannot be synced with Synoveo
Verification Methods
Google offers several verification methods:
Postcard (Most Common)
- Request verification
- Google mails postcard with code
- Enter code in GBP (arrives in 5-14 days)
Phone
- Google calls your business number
- Enter the code provided
- Instant verification
- Google sends code to business email
- Enter the code
- Instant verification
Video
- Record video of your business
- Show signage, location, proof of ownership
- Google reviews within 5 days
Live Video Call
- Schedule call with Google support
- Show business via video
- Verified during call
Checking Verification Status
In Synoveo:
- Go to Dashboard → Locations
- Look for verification indicator:
- Green = Verified
- Yellow = Pending
- Red = Not verified
Refresh Status
Click "Check Verification Status" to query Google for latest status.
Completing Verification
If not verified:
- Go to Google Business Profile Manager
- Select the location
- Click "Verify" or "Complete verification"
- Follow the provided method
- Return to Synoveo and refresh status
Troubleshooting
"Verification postcard not received"
- Wait full 14 days
- Check correct address
- Request new postcard
"Phone verification not available"
- Not all businesses qualify
- Try another method
"Verification rejected"
- Ensure business is legitimate
- Provide requested documents
- Contact Google support
After Verification
Once verified:
- Sync becomes available in Synoveo
- Enable sync toggle
- Start managing your profile
